Position Overview
Join our team in supporting the desk with the development of supply and demand models across a variety of agricultural commodities. Your contributions will assist in the enhancement of new analytical models and processes, aimed at improving efficiency in line with fundamental best practices in commodities.
In this role, you will produce ad hoc analyses in response to short-term market developments, providing vital support to our commodities trading strategies. You will take ownership of the desk's data flows, including onboarding new datasets and resolving any issues that arise. Additionally, you will run and maintain processes related to fundamental data operations, collaborating with different teams to capture cross-desk synergies and improve systematic reporting.
Expect to provide ad-hoc desk support, including organizational tasks and technical assistance.
Typical Day
- Ensure that all models and visualizations are functioning as expected and troubleshoot any data issues.
- Organize team Confluence pages to keep all information current and accessible.
- Produce ad-hoc analyses as required by traders and analysts.
- Work on various long-term projects to create market-leading analytical models.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (MSc preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, or Quantitative Finance.
- Experience in quantitative research, ideally through previous internship experience or in a related position, particularly in commodities trading.
- Familiarity with highly quantitative trading asset classes, especially power, and systematic trading is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python is required; proficiency in Excel and VBA is an advantage.
- A demonstrated passion for investing and an understanding of trends in the commodities markets.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to synthesize thoughts and organize information quickly.
- An open-minded approach to tackling any project or task as needed.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple teams and regions.
