Position Overview
As an Instrumentation Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and lifecycle support of gas turbine instrumentation. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure the delivery of robust, reliable, and high-performance instrumentation solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop new and improve existing gas turbine instrumentation.
- Analyze engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts to consolidate instrumentation needs.
- Drive the development of new instrumentation from specification and integration design through to assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
- Oversee the complete measurement chain, ensuring proper alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
- Advise mechanical designers on creating and updating instrumentation documentation and integration into the product structure.
- Serve as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues, providing support for field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and power plant erection or commissioning.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving, including analyzing instrumentation signals and machine operational data.
Your Profile
- University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on aerospace, turbomachinery, mechatronics, process technology, or energy technology.
- Strong ability to work in distributed, multidisciplinary, and multicultural teams with complex technical and organizational interfaces.
- Expertise in sensor-engine integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
- Experience in dynamic measurement chains for vibration and acoustics is a plus.
- Practical experience in power plants, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications is preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is advantageous.
- Knowledge of PLM systems; experience with Siemens Teamcenter® is a plus.
- Experience in signal and data analysis.
- Skills in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
- Willingness to travel globally up to 30% to power plants, construction sites, the factory in Genoa (Italy), or suppliers, approximately once per month for an average of two weeks.
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is an advantage, and knowledge of Italian is a plus.
