Role Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for gas turbine instrumentation, focusing on its development, improvement, and lifecycle support. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, reliable, and high-performance instrumentation solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop new and enhance existing gas turbine instrumentation.
  • Analyze new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts; consolidate instrumentation needs.
  • Drive the development of new instrumentation, from specification and design through assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
  • Oversee the entire measurement chain and ensure the proper alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
  • Advise designers on creating and updating instrumentation documentation and its integration into the product structure.
  • Provide product support and serve as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues from field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and power plant erection or commissioning.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving, including the analysis of instrumentation signals and machine operational data.

Your Profile

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably focusing on aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, turbomachinery, process technology, or energy technology.
  • Extensive know-how in sensor integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
  • Preferably, knowledge in dynamic measurement chains for rotor vibration and acoustics.
  • Practical experience in power plant, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is advantageous.
  • Able to work in distributed, multidisciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
  • Experience in measurement signal and data analysis; proficiency in LabVIEW® and MATLAB® is beneficial.
  • Strong skills in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Willingness to travel to power plants, construction sites, the factory in Genoa (Italy), or suppliers, approximately once per month on average, occasionally for up to two weeks.
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is an advantage, and knowledge of Italian is a plus.
