Join Our Team as an Instrumentation Development Engineer

As one of the world’s leading players in the power generation sector, Ansaldo Energia is a full-cycle integrated operator with the capability to construct turnkey power plants on greenfield sites. We utilize our own technology and possess independent design, production, construction, commissioning, and service resources.

We are seeking to strengthen our team in Baden, Switzerland, with your expertise and experience as an Instrumentation Development Engineer.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will focus on gas turbine instrumentation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Development of new and improvement of existing gas turbine instrumentation.
  • Analysis of new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts; consolidation of instrumentation needs.
  • Driving the development of new instrumentation from specification and design through assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
  • Overseeing the complete measurement chain and ensuring correct alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
  • Advising designers in creating and updating instrumentation documentation and integration into the product structure.
  • Providing product support and acting as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues, including field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and power plant commissioning.
  • Conducting root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving, including analysis of instrumentation signals and machine operational data.

Your Profile

We are looking for candidates who fulfill the following criteria:

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, turbomachinery, process technology, or energy technology.
  • Strong knowledge in sensor integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
  • Experience with dynamic measurement chains for rotor vibration and acoustics is preferred.
  • Practical experience in power plant, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is a plus.
  • Ability to work in distributed, multidisciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
  • Experience in measurement signal and data analysis; familiarity with LabVIEW® and MATLAB® is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Willingness to travel to power plants, construction sites, the factory in Genoa (Italy), or suppliers, approximately once per month, occasionally for up to two weeks.
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of German is an advantage, and Italian is a plus.
