Role Overview
You will be responsible for gas turbine instrumentation, focusing on the development, improvement, and lifecycle support of instrumentation solutions. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, your efforts will ensure robust, reliable, and high-performance instrumentation.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop new and enhance existing gas turbine instrumentation.
- Analyze new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts to consolidate instrumentation needs.
- Drive the development of new instrumentation from specification and design to assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
- Oversee the complete measurement chain, ensuring the correct alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
- Advise designers in creating and updating instrumentation documentation and integrating it into the product structure.
- Provide product support and serve as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues across various fields, including field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and power plant commissioning.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving, including analyzing instrumentation signals and machine operational data.
Your Profile
- University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably focused on aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, turbomachinery, process technology, or energy technology.
- Strong expertise in sensor integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
- Preferably knowledgeable in dynamic measurement chains for rotor vibration and acoustics.
- Preferably possess practical experience in power plant, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is an advantage.
- Able to work in distributed, multidisciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
- Experience in measurement signal and data analysis; proficiency with LabVIEW® and MATLAB® is beneficial.
- Skilled in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
- Willingness to travel to power plants, construction sites, the factory in Genoa (Italy), or suppliers, approximately once per month, occasionally for up to two weeks.
- Excellent command of English; knowledge of German is an advantage, and Italian is a plus.
