Instrument Integration Engineer
Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, with significant research and development functions based here. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual for our long-standing client, Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz.
Background
As an Instrument Integration Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless integration of hardware and software components to guarantee optimal instrument functionality. You will support the entire lifecycle of the instrument—from the concept phase, development, and validation, through to market launch and maintenance. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring that all system components work together flawlessly, enabling the final product to meet the highest quality and performance standards. Your contributions will form the foundation for the successful realization of modern diagnostic and analytical instruments, which are indispensable in a wide range of applications and industries.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ensure seamless collaboration between hardware and software components, driving integration activities throughout the entire lifecycle of the instrument.
- Independently or with minimal support, plan, execute, and document integration activities, including feasibility studies, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and verify test methods for instrument testing, maintain and execute complex test cases, and ensure formal testing of instrument functionality.
- Support and execute troubleshooting and root cause analysis for instrument issues.
- Apply statistical methods and data analysis using software tools to evaluate test results, identify trends and correlations, interpret findings, and generate reports that inform decision-making.
- Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration, bringing fresh ideas to the table, encouraging innovation, and supporting continuous improvement.
Must Haves
- Apprenticeship as a Chemical Laboratory Technician/Biotechnologist, or a B.Sc. degree (or higher) in a relevant technical or scientific field, combined with strong analytical thinking skills.
- 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory environment (experience gained during an apprenticeship or vocational training is fully credited).
- Foundational knowledge of systems engineering and understanding of interactions between mechanical, electronic, and software components in instrument development.
- Proficiency in intermediate to advanced statistical methods and software tools for data analysis, evaluation, and interpretation.
- Fluent in English; German proficiency is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Initial professional experience in the field of medical device development is an advantage.
- Familiarity with tools and IT systems such as Python, JMP, Azure DevOps, or Retina is beneficial but not mandatory.
