Experimental Animal Center Job Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team starting April 1st, 2026, or by appointment for a 1-year position, with the possibility of extension.
Areas of Responsibility
- Manage the infrastructure and equipment of the animal facilities to comply with internal, national, and international guidelines.
- Maintain inventory, equipment, facility set-up, and records related to operations, ensuring proper functioning of facility equipment, and coordinate equipment repair and maintenance as the key contact with providers.
- Ensure appropriate staff technical training, supervision, and evaluation; lead a team of 10 individuals.
- Verify that adequate supplies of expendables are available at all times to support barrier husbandry operations and the maintenance of facilities.
- Assist with quality assurance methods to check the hygiene of the animal facilities, water quality, and sterilization chambers.
- Develop and revise animal facility SOPs in conjunction with facility managers, ensuring adherence to SOPs, quality assurance guidelines, and protocols.
- Provide central support and involvement in the further development of the procurement system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology, a related field, or a university degree in a technical profession related to the healthcare industry.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in animal husbandry facilities, veterinary medicine, or human medicine.
- Experience with procurement is an advantage.
- Initiative, communication skills, resilience, and a service-oriented leadership personality.
- Willingness to collaborate with various interest groups and develop innovations.
- Very good English and/or German skills; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
