Position Overview
The Room Steward is responsible for ensuring optimal cleanliness, order, and hygiene onboard, delivering the highest level of satisfaction to our guests in accordance with Viking China Outbound Standards (VRC PSO).
Key Responsibilities
- Correct receipt and distribution of guest laundry.
- Distribution, control, and return of Viking River Cruises uniforms.
- Ensuring smooth operations on embarkation days.
- Maintaining impeccable cleanliness and order within the housekeeping department.
- Actively assisting with stateroom cleaning and laundry duties.
- Operating procedures according to company standards and HACCP regulations.
- Ensuring regular care of plants and flowers onboard.
- Distribution of daily programs, gift orders, and turndown services.
- Preparing for the opening and closing of ships at the start and end of the season.
- Motivating and training the housekeeping team (5 - 13 members in laundry, staterooms, and public areas).
- Supervising the housekeeping team and their respective duties.
- Replacing the Stateroom Steward during absences (e.g., holiday coverage).
- Participating in loading procedures.
- Controlling housekeeping costs within budget.
- Cooperating with the Hotel Manager on stock ordering.
- Ensuring correct storage of stock and establishing par levels.
- Conducting inventory according to company procedures.
- Actively engaging with guests and enhancing social interactions.
Qualifications
- Graduated education in the hotel industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a similar position.
- International and onboard experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Mandarin and fluent in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
- Service-oriented and guest-focused with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Positive personality and a professional appearance.
- Flexibility, resilience under pressure, strong teamwork, and commitment.
