The Role

The successful candidate will be an integral part of Bellevue’s Global Healthcare investment team, collaborating closely with fund managers and investment specialists. You will work alongside a team of two portfolio managers to drive value for investors.

Your contributions will play a substantial role in enhancing the alpha generation of our long-only equity strategies. This will involve identifying and evaluating premier global investment opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Additionally, you will gain exposure to senior corporate executives, esteemed “opinion leader” physicians, scientists, and other prominent industry experts.

Main Responsibilities

  • Generate stock ideas by assessing pharmaceutical and biotechnology company management, overall company strategy, clinical data, market potential, and competitive landscape.
  • Prepare, conduct, and summarize company meetings.
  • Create and update financial models for companies, including valuation assessments.
  • Write comprehensive research reports and propose investment strategies to fund managers.
  • Continuously monitor research coverage, including updates from news sources, earnings reports, company and industry conference calls, and other data points.
  • Attend scientific, medical, and investor conferences in the US, Europe, and Asia.
  • Engage with clients or prospective clients, sales personnel, and product management teams.

Candidate Profile

Technical Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or finance with a strong academic record.
  • CFA designation and/or PhD qualification is a plus.
  • 2-6 years of experience as a buy-side or sell-side equity analyst focused on pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies.
  • Strong skills in financial accounting, financial statement analysis, detailed financial modeling, and valuation.
  • Excellent quantitative, statistical, and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in German is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Bloomberg is a bonus.
