Job Title: Head Strategy - Small Molecules

The Head Strategy - Small Molecules will drive organic and inorganic growth strategy programs for the dynamic Small Molecules segment. This role acts as the 'spider in the web,' collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, including top management, to ensure alignment on the definition and execution of initiatives critical to the company's ambitious growth plans.

Job Description

Strategy

  • Refine, execute, and track a 5-year strategic plan for the Small Molecules segment, ensuring alignment with organizational and corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across functions and report progress regularly to top management.
  • Own the M&A pipeline, defining criteria, scouting, and screening to hand over to the owner's deal team and conduct synergy assessments for the Small Molecules segment.
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives (e.g., in the digital area) that strengthen Solvias' value chain.

Product & Portfolio Management

  • Track portfolio profitability and KPIs by customer, service, and location, driving optimization initiatives (e.g., long-tail management) in collaboration with Finance.
  • Drive business cases for portfolio development, maintenance, and rationalization within the Small Molecules segment, in collaboration with Marketing, Science, and Finance.
  • Ensure client acquisition and maintenance aligns with the segmentation strategy in partnership with Marketing.

Go to Market

  • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the Small Molecules segment, and share insights across the organization.
  • Articulate target customers, value propositions, and sources of differentiation for the segment in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Refine the pricing framework and manage governance accordingly.
  • Assess key potential partnerships for the assigned segment in collaboration with the Executive Committee.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a scientific or business discipline.
  • Significant experience in Strategy, Marketing, Business Development, or a similar role, ideally within the pharmaceutical or consulting industry.
  • Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and delivering measurable results.
  • Expertise in strategic planning, project management, financial modeling, and market & competitive insights.
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and an analytical problem solver with excellent oral and written communication skills, including executive and board-level presentations.
  • Able to lead through influence and motivation, with the capacity to see both the big picture and the finer details.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages (especially German and French) are a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; PowerBI).
