Position Overview: Head of Strategy - Small Molecules
The Head of Strategy for Small Molecules will spearhead both organic and inorganic growth strategy programs within this dynamic segment. Acting as the cornerstone for diverse stakeholders, including top management, this role ensures alignment on defining and executing initiatives crucial to our company's ambitious growth objectives.
Job Description
Strategy
- Refine, execute, and track the 5-year strategic plan for the Small Molecules segment in alignment with organizational and corporate objectives. Collaborate with key stakeholders across functions and regularly report progress to top management.
- Own the M&A pipeline, including criteria definition, scouting and screening, and handing over to the deal team for synergy assessment, targeting opportunities that fill Solvias' capability gaps or accelerate revenue and EBITDA objectives.
- Support strategic projects and initiatives, particularly in the digital area, that enhance Solvias' value chain.
Product & Portfolio Management
- Track portfolio profitability and KPIs per customer, service, and location, driving optimization initiatives such as long-tail management in collaboration with Finance.
- Drive business cases for portfolio development, maintenance, and rationalization in collaboration with Marketing, Science, and Finance.
- Ensure client acquisition and maintenance align with the segmentation strategy in partnership with Marketing.
Go to Market
- Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the Small Molecules segment. Act as an internal domain expert in collaboration with Marketing.
- Articulate target customers, value proposition, and sources of differentiation for the Small Molecules segment in partnership with Marketing.
- Refine pricing framework and implement governance accordingly.
- Assess key potential partnerships for the assigned segment in collaboration with Executive Committee.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a scientific or business discipline.
- Significant experience in Strategy, Marketing, Business Development, or a similar role, ideally within the pharmaceutical or consulting industry.
- Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and delivering measurable results.
- Expertise in Strategic Planning, Project Management, Financial Modeling, Market & Competitive Insights, and segmentation.
- Hands-on team player with strong analytical problem-solving skills and excellent oral and written communication abilities, including experience presenting to executives and boards.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages (especially German or French) are a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI).
