Position Overview: Head of Strategy - Small Molecules

The Head Strategy - Small Molecules will lead the development of organic and inorganic growth strategies for the dynamic Small Molecules segment. Acting as a key liaison among a diverse array of stakeholders, including top management, you will ensure alignment on defining and executing initiatives that are crucial to the company's ambitious growth plans.

Strategy

  • Refine, execute, and track the 5-year strategic plan for the Small Molecules segment in alignment with organizational and corporate objectives, collaborating with key stakeholders across functions and regularly updating top management on progress.
  • Own the M&A pipeline, including criteria definition, scouting and screening to hand off to the owner's deal team, and conduct synergy assessments for the Small Molecules segment to target opportunities that address capability gaps or accelerate revenue and EBITDA goals.
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives, particularly in the digital area, that enhance Solvias' value chain.

Product & Portfolio Management

  • Monitor portfolio profitability and KPIs by customer, service, and location, driving optimization initiatives in collaboration with the Finance team.
  • Develop business cases for portfolio development, maintenance, and rationalization within the Small Molecules segment, collaborating with Marketing, Science, and Finance.
  • Ensure that client acquisition and maintenance aligns with segmentation strategy in collaboration with Marketing.

Go to Market

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the Small Molecules segment, disseminating insights within the organization as an internal domain expert in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Articulate target customers, value propositions, and sources of differentiation for the Small Molecules segment in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Refine the pricing framework and implement governance accordingly.
  • Evaluate key potential partnerships for the assigned segment in collaboration with the Executive Committee.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a scientific or business discipline.
  • Significant experience in Strategy, Marketing, Business Development, or similar roles, preferably in the pharmaceutical or consulting industry.
  • Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and delivering measurable results.
  • Expertise in Strategic Planning, Project Management, Financial Modeling, Market & Competitive Insights, and segmentation.
  • Possess hands-on experience, be a team player, analytical problem solver with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the capability to present effectively at executive and board levels.
  • Ability to lead through influence and motivation while maintaining a holistic perspective.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages (especially German or French) is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).
