Job Opportunity: Head of Sixth Form

We are seeking a Head of Sixth Form who will play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless transition into the A Level programme for all students. This leader will maintain a comprehensive support model for all Sixth Form students while fostering an environment focused on individual academic attainment and pastoral care. Our priority is to create a unique, student-centered framework that establishes ambitious yet achievable targets for our Sixth Form students.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader who inspires colleagues and students to strive for excellence, ensuring that a culture of ongoing improvement permeates the Sixth Form at BSG. Collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team at the whole school level is essential to uphold the values and ethos of the British School of Geneva, promote student wellbeing, support curriculum delivery, and maintain the school’s reputation within the ISP group and the wider community.

This role includes an expected teaching load of 6 class contact hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Curriculum and Teaching & Learning for Key Stage 5.
  • Monitor the academic progress and pastoral care of Sixth Form students.
  • Lead on attendance, absence management, assessment, and reporting for Sixth Form.
  • Oversee the line management of a team of up to 10 teachers.
  • Co-lead on Ped Days with other SLT members.
  • Co-lead on whole-school Teaching and Learning alongside Curriculum Leaders and SLT.
  • Co-lead on the ISP Learning Improvement Plan and School Improvement Plan.
  • Ensure continued enrolment in Sixth Form, targeting an annual growth of 5%.
  • Promote the A Level programme and encourage Sixth Form enrolment through various outreach initiatives.
  • Guide students on Future Pathways, including university applications and career guidance.
  • Serve as the Exams Officer, responsible for coordinating A Level and IGCSE examinations for both internal and external candidates.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent, with experience teaching Key Stages 3-5.
  • Proven knowledge of the A Level programme is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with international students.
  • Proven capacity to lead and inspire both high-achieving and requiring support students.
  • An inclusive approach to education.
  • Ability to guide and advise students on applications for higher education.
  • IT literate and comfortable using a variety of online platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to further develop the existing programme.
  • Knowledge of UCAS is essential; familiarity with worldwide university application systems is desirable.
