We are seeking an experienced, internationally-minded professional to oversee the professional and organizational advancement of our route setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for route setting within the bouldering gym.
- Development and implementation of innovative bouldering and route-setting concepts.
- Ensuring a diverse, safe, and high-quality bouldering experience for various target groups and performance levels.
- Planning, coordinating, and maintaining quality control of the route-setting team.
- Training, mentoring, and developing route setters and related staff.
- Monitoring international trends in route setting, movement design, holds, volumes, and training environments.
- Responsible for the professional selection, procurement, and utilization of climbing holds, volumes, and route-setting materials.
- Budget planning and cost control within the route-setting department.
- Collaboration with management, training, courses, and operations.
- Ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and cleanliness in all route-setting activities.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including times outside of regular opening hours.
Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in route setting, ideally across various climbing or bouldering facilities and performance levels.
- Demonstrated high-level expertise in bouldering and professional route setting.
- Active participation in personal climbing or bouldering at a high level, enabling the candidate to test and evaluate challenging movements.
- Experience in leading, coordinating, or developing route-setting teams.
- Strong knowledge of international developments, trends, and standards in route setting.
- Experience in budget planning, material planning, or procurement of route-setting equipment is advantageous.
- Good command of English; knowledge of German is beneficial but not required.
- High physical resilience and a strong commitment to safety.
- Independent, organized, and responsible working style.
- Willingness to work in a year-round operation with partly irregular working hours.
