Position Overview
As the Head of the Risk Management & Compliance function, you will be tasked with managing the comprehensive Risk Management and Compliance framework of the company. This role requires an independent assessment to ensure that all key risks faced by the company are effectively managed. Furthermore, you will ensure that all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This position presents an excellent opportunity to gain insight into all facets of our reinsurance organization and to enhance the function in alignment with the requirements of a FINMA category 3 reinsurer.
The Head of Risk Management and Compliance will report directly to the company’s Executive Management and assume regulatory responsibility for the Control function.
Your Responsibilities
General
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Risk Management & Compliance framework.
- Manage communication with the regulator (FINMA).
- Lead the agenda of the Risk & Audit Board Committee.
- Prepare and present regular reports to various stakeholders, including senior management, the Board of Directors, and the regulator.
- Promote a robust risk culture within the company and train staff on Risk and Compliance matters.
Risk Management
- Identify, evaluate, monitor, manage, and report on the key risks affecting the company.
- Manage and maintain the Internal Control System.
- Lead the ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment) process.
Compliance Management
- Monitor regulatory changes impacting reinsurance companies and provide guidance to management and affected internal functions on implications.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including AML, sanctions, KYC, data protection, and corporate governance.
- Collaborate closely with all functions to ensure adherence to internal policies.
Your Profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management at a (re)insurance company, ideally within a FINMA-regulated environment.
- Solid understanding of (re)insurance business models, risk categories, and regulatory expectations.
- Proactive and independent thinker with the confidence to challenge and influence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high level of self-organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German or French is a plus.
