About the Role

The Head of Philanthropy is responsible for cultivating and advancing philanthropy at ZIS. A key focus will be identifying new opportunities to expand programs, fostering enduring relationships, soliciting philanthropic support, and strategically planning for the long-term sustainability of the fundraising initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Oversee the implementation of a moves management strategy to encourage engagement and financial support, including donor identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Annual Fund, Major Gifts & Endowment: Develop strategies to enhance the Annual Fund and the Major Gifts Program, while supporting Endowment Fundraising.
  • Stewardship & Reporting: Execute a Stewardship plan, maintain reports and performance indicators, and ensure adherence to professional and ethical fundraising standards.
  • Community Engagement & Visibility: Be a visible presence in the ZIS community and schedule personal meetings both on-site and off-site to deepen engagement and support for the school.
  • Volunteer & Team Management: Recruit and oversee key Annual Fund volunteers and manage the Advancement Services Coordinator.
  • Marketing, PR & Information Sharing: Plan and manage marketing and PR programs for the Annual Fund, implementing effective information-sharing strategies including CASE Engagement metrics.
  • Corporate & Strategic Partnerships / Networks: Serve as the primary contact for strategic corporate partners, and maintain relationship databases.

What You Bring to This Role

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field
  • Strong track record in non-profit fundraising
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with high-value donors to cultivate shared visions
  • Exceptional project management and strategic planning abilities
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and German
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams within culturally diverse organizations
  • Proficiency in G Suite products, CRM databases, and Raiser’s Edge
