Head of Marketing & Communications at Fairpicture
About Fairpicture
Fairpicture makes ethical visual storytelling the norm. We work with over 250 visual creators across the Global South, assisting NGOs, international organizations, and ethical brands in telling stories that respect and represent the individuals involved. In 2025, we launched FairConsent, a consent management platform that is becoming a fundamental pillar in how photographers and organizations handle the rights of those they photograph and film. We are a small, dedicated team of 20 people, with 15 in Cairo and 5 in Switzerland. As we continue to grow, we need someone to ensure that the right audience is aware of our mission.
The Role
Up to now, our growth has primarily stemmed from business development, targeting leaders in ethical communication. As a result, most of our clients are tier-one NGOs and International Organizations. Your responsibility will be to transform our already-strong reputation into a growth engine that sets a new global standard for ethical visual storytelling. While our current focus is on B2B Enterprise, we aim to expand our reach to smaller teams and individual visual creators.
This is an entrepreneurial position where you will be hands-on, managing end-to-end processes while gradually building a team of colleagues and freelancers to foster faster and more effective growth. Being hands-on means engaging in writing, publishing, testing, and iterating while assembling your crew for roles such as paid channels, SEO, and design.
You will be the cornerstone of our strategy, ensuring it is executed to a high standard, whether you are directly involved or overseeing someone else. Staying informed about developments in our ecosystem—such as the World Disaster Report 2026 from IFRC, discussions around AI and image rights, new visual storytelling guidelines from Bond, shifts in GDPR, or C2PA—is crucial. You will convert this information into sharp, relevant content that resonates with our audience.
What You'll Do
Editorial Intelligence & Reactive Content
- Monitor topics that matter to our audiences, including NGO communications, visual ethics, consent management, and AI and image rights.
- Connect external news and trends to Fairpicture's narrative, presenting a clear point of view with a quick turnaround.
- Write compelling LinkedIn posts, newsletters, and articles yourself, rather than relying solely on others.
Organic Presence & Content Strategy
- Own the LinkedIn strategy and execution (our primary B2B channel), email marketing, and website content.
- Produce a diverse range of content formats including short-form social media posts, long-form articles, case studies, and event materials.
- Brief, manage, and maintain quality control over freelancers (copywriting, design, video) using precise briefs and high standards.
- Oversee SEO performance and collaborate with specialists as needed.
Paid & Performance Oversight
- Generate marketing-qualified leads and enhance the likelihood of prospects registering and reaching out to our sales representatives for meetings (for large accounts only).
- Track and own the complete funnel from awareness to conversion, building dashboards and reports that offer the team clear visibility on effective strategies, conducting data-driven experiments, and making rapid decisions based on insights.
- Supervise performance marketing freelancers or contractors by leveraging a solid understanding of LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, and Meta platforms.
- Analyze key metrics, determine when to adjust spending or strategy, and manage the overall marketing budget.
Automation & AI
- Employ AI tools and marketing automation to enhance efficiency in content repurposing, social listening, lead-generating flows, and reporting.
- Create workflows that save time while maintaining quality and brand voice.
Events & Community Presence
- Identify and prioritize relevant events where Fairpicture should participate, including major conferences for NGO communication leaders, forums on consent and data rights, visual storytelling summits, and gatherings within the UN/INGO ecosystem.
- Prepare for and represent Fairpicture at these events, engaging in speaking slots, side meetings, partner activations, or simply networking to build relationships.
- Transform event participation into content and leads, capturing opportunities before, during, and after the event.
What You Bring
- A strong, quick writing ability—capable of crafting compelling LinkedIn posts in under an hour and sharp newsletters in a morning.
- Editorial curiosity with a broad reading habit, connecting the dots that others might miss, and possessing a genuine perspective on issues our clients care about.
- A full-funnel mindset, considering everything from awareness to conversion, retention, and renewals, along with an understanding of how all the components work together.
- Real autonomy with the ability to produce deliverables, not just coordinate projects.
- A test-and-iterate approach, where hypotheses are explored through small experiments, allowing for rapid learning and adjustments without ego.
- Previous experience managing a group of freelancers, having briefed, reviewed, and approved their work.
- A solid grasp of HubSpot (or equivalent), GA4, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, AI tools, and marketing automation platforms (such as Make, Zapier, or similar).
- Basic fluency in paid channels and SEO, allowing for effective supervision of specialists.
- A strong affinity for the NGO/international organization ecosystem, understanding their communication practices and decision-making processes.
- At least 5 years of experience in digital marketing, including time spent in a startup or lean-team environment.
- Fluent English, as it will be the primary working language.
What We Offer
- Real ownership with a direct impact on Fairpicture's growth trajectory.
- Participation in the coordination circle with close collaboration with the CEO and the board of directors.
- A multicultural team with offices in Cairo and Bern.
- A culture of ownership, open feedback, and continuous improvement.
- Compensation benchmarked to the Swiss median salary—fair and fully transparent, though generally below what larger organizations or purely commercial players can offer. We emphasize ownership, impact, and mission over top-of-market pay.
