Head of Junior Boys’ Boarding House

This position is ideal for candidates who thrive in a dynamic environment, working with bright and inquisitive international students aged 12 to 15 (grades 7 to 9). The successful candidate will have a strong background in leadership within a boarding house, bringing a proven record of exceptional pastoral care and the capability to inspire and lead a dedicated team. This role is integral to our pastoral team, collaborating closely with fellow Heads of House, House Parents, and the Head of Boarding to foster a welcoming, supportive, and nurturing atmosphere for our boys. A key focus will be on promoting the welfare of all students and staff in the Boarding House, incorporating safeguarding measures, health and safety protocols, and enriching activities.

Strong organizational and communication skills are essential to effectively manage the daily operations of the Boarding House while supporting the academic and extracurricular programs for our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the house, alongside providing pastoral guidance and support for boarders.
  • Create a safe, well-ordered, warm, and friendly environment with a focus on pupil welfare.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and all stakeholders at the school.
  • Lead a team of houseparents, coordinating schedules and ensuring the provision of high levels of care.
  • Maintain detailed student records with special attention to confidentiality, privacy, and sensitivity.
  • Organize and actively contribute to boarding activities during evenings and weekends.
  • Ensure safeguarding practices are upheld at all times.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in a residential setting.
  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • High level of social competence and empathy, along with strong communication skills, a sense of responsibility, and teamwork.
  • EU/EFTA citizenship is an advantage.
  • English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level; additional language skills are a plus.
