As a global leader, the Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF provides specialized services to analyze gemstones and pearls for the international jewellery trade. We engage daily with our clients across the globe, delivering analytical services from our main laboratory in Basel, Switzerland, as well as our facility in Bangkok and at gem shows in Hong Kong and the USA.

In addition to our testing services, SSEF offers gemmology courses at basic, advanced, and scientific levels, covering colored stones, diamonds, pearls, and jewellery history. To strengthen our position and enhance our Education Department, we are currently seeking a Head of Education.

Head of Education

In this role, you will lead the strategic development and delivery of our course offerings. Your primary focus will be to revamp and refine existing programs, ensuring a high-quality student experience, and expanding our portfolio through bespoke training and global online courses. You will also represent SSEF at trade shows, conferences, and professional events, showcasing our course offerings and gemmological expertise.

Collaboration with the marketing and communications teams will be key, as you work to promote and create engaging educational content for social media, highlighting the skills and knowledge imparted through our courses, products, and services.

Your Profile

• You hold diplomas in Gemmology (FGA, DGA, DUG in gemmology or comparable).
• You have a proven track record in academic leadership or education management within the gemmology field.
• You possess experience in developing gemmology courses and designing bespoke and online programs for diverse audiences in the gem and jewellery industry.
• You have strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills along with an established network in the gem and jewellery sector.
• You are a native English speaker with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• You are willing to travel internationally to deliver talks and specialized courses at trade shows for a diverse array of clients.
