About House of Gentle Arts

House of Gentle Arts is a network of multiple gyms in Zurich, dedicated to delivering high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) instruction. As an organization part of the Swiss Ministry of Sports and actively collaborating with the city of Zurich, we serve a diverse community of adults and children, ranging from recreational practitioners to competitive athletes.

Our goal is to expand and build a network of elite academies, recognized for a world-class curriculum, exceptional teaching methodology, and a positive, growth-oriented culture. We are looking for a top-level technical leader to be the cornerstone of this expansion, aimed at scaling the network and enhancing professionalism, including the development of our youth program.

Position Summary

We are seeking a visionary Head Coach with proven and verifiable experience leading high-performance teams to head the program at our main unit in Zurich and design the BJJ structure for our future network of academies. This professional will be responsible for establishing and ensuring excellence in instruction, instructor development, and athlete training across all units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and develop instructors: Build a coach development program, including mentorship and ongoing training, aligning all instructors with a unified technical and pedagogical standard.
  • Develop a scalable technical and pedagogical program: Serve children, recreational practitioners, and high-performance athletes with standardized quality and a replicable teaching philosophy across the network.
  • Lead instruction in Zurich: Teach key classes and act as the technical reference for the coaching staff. Deliver internal and external technical events to strengthen the network’s culture.
  • Establish quality control mechanisms: Create evaluation and monitoring systems to ensure the proper execution of the program in every unit.
  • Support network expansion: Collaborate with management to implement the technical structure in new academies, and develop a strategy for scaling the business and diversifying revenue streams.
  • Lead the competition team: Develop and oversee the network’s competition program, aiming to produce top-tier athletes.
  • Represent the brand: Serve as an ambassador for House of Gentle Arts within the national and international BJJ community.

Required Qualifications

  • Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a strong competitive background in high-level tournaments (Gi and No-Gi).
  • At least 7 years of coaching experience, with a proven track record of forming champions and leading successful teams.
  • Practical experience with competitive, recreational, and children’s programs.
  • Experience in structuring scalable technical and pedagogical curriculums.
  • Proven ability to train, lead, and inspire other instructors.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English (required).
  • Passion for teaching, personal development, and building a lasting legacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a head coach or technical director in a large academy or network.
  • Experience with expansion and standardization of sports or educational programs.
  • Functional knowledge of German and Portuguese is a plus.
