The company offers industry-leading unmanned helicopter systems for various mission profiles, including Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Inspection, and Mapping and Cargo.
Position Overview: Head of Airworthiness & Safety
As the Head of Airworthiness & Safety, you will be responsible for receiving and maintaining operational authorizations, serving as the primary point of contact for aviation authorities, and acting as the internal liaison for all regulation and flight safety-related inquiries. You will also be tasked with establishing and maintaining all relevant documentation and manuals.
Your Main Tasks Include:
- Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders to obtain relevant operational authorizations (e.g., SORA-process in accordance with Drone Regulation EU 2019/947).
- Initiating and coordinating operational authorizations and other regulatory topics with relevant National Aviation Authorities (NAAs).
- Developing and maintaining manuals and processes to secure and uphold operational authorizations.
- Familiarizing yourself with and assessing the latest regulations and information related to the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, and providing information and training to internal stakeholders.
- Acting as Flight Safety Manager and establishing and maintaining a Safety Management System.
- Establishing and maintaining a compliant occurrence reporting scheme (e.g., in accordance with regulation EU 376/2014).
- Consulting with management on regulation-relevant topics.
- Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Conducting internal and external audits.
- Delivering internal training related to regulatory and aviation standards.
What We Are Looking For
You will impress us with:
- A completed higher education (e.g., ETH, HTL, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of Safety Management Systems in accordance with ICAO requirements (e.g., Doc. 9859).
- Expertise in relevant regulatory requirements and frameworks for unmanned aerial vehicles (e.g., EU 2019/947).
- A solid technical and systems engineering understanding.
- Process-oriented and structured work methods.
- Strong computer skills.
