Purpose of Role
We are seeking a Head of Sixth Form who will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth transition into the A Level programme for all students. This leader will maintain a comprehensive support model for all Sixth Form students and set the tone for fostering individual academic attainment and pastoral care. We prioritize a unique, student-centered structure that establishes ambitious yet achievable targets for our Sixth Form students.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader who inspires both colleagues and students to strive for excellence, ensuring that a commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality experiences permeates the Sixth Form at BSG. The Head of Sixth Form will collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to uphold the values and ethos of the British School of Geneva, promote student wellbeing, support curriculum delivery, and enhance the school's profile within the ISP group and the broader community.
This role includes an expected teaching load of 6 class contact hours per week.
The School
The British School of Geneva, under the ownership of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), welcomes a diverse range of global students to our A Level programme, including those transitioning from our own Key Stage 4. It is essential that the Head of Sixth Form possesses the expertise to guide, advise, and nurture our students through their A Level studies and into their chosen paths for higher education or further studies.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Leader, you play a crucial role in supporting the Head of School in establishing both a school of choice and an employer of choice. You will report directly to the Head of School and will collaborate positively with the Senior Leadership Team. You are accountable for delivering desired outcomes across various components and ensuring ongoing school development and improvement.

More specifically, the incumbent will:
- Oversee the Curriculum and Teaching & Learning at Key Stage 5.
- Monitor the academic progress and pastoral care of Sixth Form students.
- Lead on attendance, absence, assessment, and reporting for Sixth Form.
- Manage a team of up to 10 teachers.
- Co-lead Professional Development Days with other SLT members.
- Collaborate with Curriculum Leaders and SLT on whole-school Teaching and Learning initiatives.
- Contribute to the ISP Learning Improvement Plan and the School Improvement Plan.
- Ensure continued enrolment in Sixth Form with a KPI growth target of 5% per annum.
- Promote the A Level programme and facilitate Sixth Form enrolment through outreach activities.
- Lead on Future Pathways, including university applications and career guidance.
- Serve as the Exams Officer, coordinating A Level and IGCSE examinations for all candidates.
Contractual Expectations
Your working hours will be from 08:00 AM to 05:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with one hour allocated daily for break/lunch. Flexibility is expected from Senior Leadership Team members to meet school needs.
A full-time contract includes:
- Availability in the week prior to Professional Development Week, which may be remote.
- Attendance at Professional Development Week each August.
- Attendance at weekly staff meetings (currently Monday from 15:45 to 16:40).
- Participation in scheduled Parent-Teacher-Student Meetings.
- Engagement in four whole school events throughout the academic year.
- Provision of 2.5 hours of break and lunch duty weekly.
- Availability for 2 hours of cover for absent colleagues each week (if required).
- Completion of a minimum of three Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses per year.
- Involvement in Reception and/or Open Days or offsite ambassadorial roles in support of the Admissions department.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent, with experience teaching Key Stages 3-5.
- Proven knowledge of the A Level programme is essential.
- Experience working with international students.
- Ability to lead in challenging students and providing support.
- An inclusion-oriented approach.
- Capacity to guide and advise students regarding applications to tertiary institutions.
- Proficiency in IT and familiarity with various online platforms.
- A keen eye for detail.
- A willingness to further develop existing programmes.
- Knowledge of UCAS is essential; knowledge of worldwide university application systems is desirable.
