The mission of the IRP – International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia, established in 1995 in Geneva, is to provide essential funding for basic and clinical research in the field of paraplegia, both in Switzerland and internationally. Headquartered in Geneva, IRP also has a branch office in Zurich, conveniently located near the main train station.

Current Opportunity: Grants / Office Manager

We are seeking a dedicated individual with proven experience and accomplishments to fill the part-time role of Grants / Office Manager (40% yearly average). The expected start date for this position is June 2, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture relationships with potential donors, particularly in the Swiss German market (companies, foundations, and individuals).
  • Manage relationships with existing donors and partnerships.
  • Set up and maintain a database to update all contacts and leads with donors.
  • Oversee grant processes in liaison with the Scientific Committee, including:
    • Yearly calls for project grants and dispatch to researchers and institutions.
    • Processing applications upon receipt and preparing evaluation forms.
    • Organizing meetings, recording minutes, and ensuring follow-ups.
    • Drafting new contracts and managing the annual list of project payment due dates.
    • Requesting interim, final, and financial reports.
  • Organize the Schellenberg Research Prize.
  • Prepare monthly payments in cooperation with headquarters.
  • Facilitate communication through fundraising documents, social media, and IRPneuronews.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of charity events.
  • Coordinate with the office in Geneva and report to the Executive Committee.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate aligns with the foundation's mission to support individuals suffering from paraplegia. The applicant should possess several years of proven experience in secretarial tasks, communication, and numerical analysis, with experience in foundation administration being an advantage.

Personal qualities such as confidence, initiative, drive, autonomy, and professionalism have been key to the applicant's previous success.

Language requirements include:

  • German as a mother tongue with strong writing skills.
  • Fluent communication skills in English.
  • Good knowledge of French.

Swiss work permit is required.
