Grants Finance and Compliance Manager / Grants Finance and Compliance Manageress

Plan International Schweiz - May 29, 2025

Join Plan International

Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization dedicated to advancing children's rights and promoting equality for girls. Operating in over 80 countries, we partner with children, young people, supporters, and various stakeholders to address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and discrimination, ensuring that girls have the opportunity to learn, lead, decide, and thrive. A critical aspect of our mission is to ensure high-quality program implementation, which includes effective financial grants management and compliance.

Your Role

As part of a growing team of 20 passionate individuals, you will be integral to the programs department, providing essential financial oversight and ensuring compliance with donor requirements for our grants portfolio. You will also play a key role in improving our financial grants management processes and systems.

Specifically, you will:

  • Support the implementation of a Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response regional project in Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia, acting as the financial liaison to in-country teams and the Project Lead.
  • Offer financial controlling and compliance support for additional Plan International Switzerland projects, ensuring the consistent application of financial standards and donor requirements across our project portfolio.
  • Update our internal financial grants management tracking tools in conjunction with the organization-wide SAP system.
  • Participate in exchanges and coordination platforms within the broader Plan International federation focused on financial grants management and compliance.

As our organization evolves, there may be opportunities to expand this role to include direct project management of two to three grants, where experience in project management would be highly beneficial.

Your Profile

You are a proactive team player who enjoys working in a dynamic and international environment. You possess a solid understanding of the non-profit sector, with at least 3 years of experience in financial management, compliance, and reporting—preferably within a development organization and with involvement in SDC-funded projects.

Ideally, you bring the following skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree (Master's degree is an advantage) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing financial reporting and compliance for multi-country projects involving local partners.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets and financial transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to adapt financial systems to various cultural and organizational contexts.
  • International work experience.
  • Experience or familiarity with grassroots organizations.
  • Project management experience.

A valid Swiss work permit is required, along with a minimum presence in our Zurich office for 2-3 days per week. Some international travel will be necessary.
