Plan International Schweiz - May 21, 2025

Plan International

Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization dedicated to advancing children's rights and promoting equality for girls. With operations in over 80 countries, we collaborate with children, young people, supporters, and partners to address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and discrimination. Our commitment is to ensure that girls can learn, lead, decide, and thrive. Achieving quality program implementation, including financial grants management and compliance, is essential to driving impactful results for girls.

Your Role

As part of a growing team of 20 passionate individuals, you will work within the programs department to ensure robust financial oversight and compliance with donor requirements for our grants portfolio. You will also strive to enhance our financial grants management processes and systems.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of a Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response regional project in Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia, acting as the financial liaison to in-country teams and the Project Lead.
  • Providing financial control and compliance support for additional Plan International Switzerland projects, ensuring consistent application of financial standards and donor requirements across the organization's project portfolio.
  • Updating our internal financial grants management tracking tools in collaboration with the organization-wide SAP system.
  • Participating in exchanges and coordination platforms with the broader Plan International federation related to financial grants management and compliance.

As our organization grows, there may be opportunities to expand your role to include direct project management of two to three grants. In this context, experience in project management would be a valuable asset.

Your Profile

You are a team player who works independently, takes initiative, and thrives in a dynamic international environment. You possess a solid understanding of the non-profit sector and have at least 3 years of experience in financial management, compliance, and reporting, preferably within a development organization with a focus on SDC-funded projects.

Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree (Master's degree a plus) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing finance reporting and compliance for multi-country projects that include local in-country partners.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets and financial transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt financial systems to diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
  • International work experience.
