The Position

As the Global Medical Affairs Director, you will be a key member of the rare disease medical affairs team, responsible for scientific and educational activities that support rare haematological and renal disorders with an immunological component.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Develop and/or provide input to the global medical affairs strategy for pipeline assets related to rare haematological and renal disorders impacted by the complement system, and implement defined tactical projects.
• Act as a strategic partner, providing expert medical leadership to guide development, submission, and launch planning for the asset, while offering medical input across product development, regulatory, pharmacoeconomic, marketing, and safety realms.
• Lead development of the Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP) and execute relevant projects within evidence generation.
• Develop educational materials and provide guidance to key affiliates in collaboration with the medical excellence team during scientific dialogue and launch preparation activities.
• Infuse the organization with an outside perspective, especially voicing the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.
• Represent the company as a medical affairs specialist, engaging with external scientific leaders, study centres, patient advocacy groups, and health authorities as necessary.
• This is an office-based position, with an expectation of international travel of approximately 10% per year.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is driven to improve the lives of patients and holds a Medical Doctor, PhD, or PharmD with experience in immunology, rare bleeding disorders, or rare renal disorders. Additionally, you should possess:

• More than 5 years of relevant work experience in the clinical or pharmaceutical industry, including experience in global or regional medical affairs.
• An established and active network within the complement disorders field.
• The capability to offer scientific and medical leadership while communicating effectively with external key opinion leaders (KOLs) and societies.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional, international teams within a matrix organization.
• A strategic and tactical mindset regarding how innovation can enhance patient diagnosis and management.
• Robust project management skills that enable you to independently drive projects to completion within allocated budgets and timelines.
• A proactive nature that anticipates both opportunities and challenges, coupled with the initiative to address them effectively.
• Experience with product launches and a commercial understanding is an advantage.
