The Global Medical Affairs Director will play a vital role in the Rare Haemato-Renal Disorders Medical Affairs Team, reporting to the Senior Global Medical Director. This position is based in our Zurich, Switzerland office.

The Position

As the Global Medical Affairs Director, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for scientific and educational activities that support rare haematological and renal disorders with an immunological component.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or contribute to the global medical affairs strategy for pipeline assets pertaining to rare haematological and renal disorders influenced by the complement system, and implement defined tactical projects.
  • Serve as a strategic partner by providing expert medical leadership to aid in development, submission, and launch planning for assets. You will also offer medical input across product development, regulatory, pharmacoeconomic, marketing, and safety domains.
  • Lead the development of the Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP) and execute relevant projects focused on evidence generation.
  • Create educational materials and provide guidance to key affiliates in collaboration with the medical excellence team during scientific dialogues and launch preparation activities.
  • Bring an outside perspective, particularly the voice of patients and healthcare professionals, into our organization.
  • As a medical affairs specialist, represent the company while engaging with external scientific leaders, study centers, patient advocacy groups, and health authorities as necessary.
  • This is an office-based position, with approximately 10% international travel expected each year.

Qualifications

You are motivated to enhance patients’ lives, possessing a Medical Doctor, PhD, or PharmD degree, along with experience in immunology, rare bleeding disorders, or rare renal disorders. Additionally, you should have:

  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in the clinical/pharmaceutical industry, including roles in global or regional medical affairs.
  • An established network within the complement disorders field.
  • The capability to communicate scientific and medical insights effectively with external KOLs and societies.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional, international teams in a matrix organization.
  • The ability to think strategically and tactically about how innovation can enhance patient diagnosis and management.
  • Strong project management skills to independently drive projects to completion within budget and timelines.
  • A proactive mindset, anticipating opportunities and challenges, along with the initiative to address them effectively.
  • Launch experience and commercial acumen are considered advantageous.
