Job Title: HSE Manager

This role is critical to the company’s continuous improvement efforts in developing and maintaining an effective Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System across all divisions globally, including turbocharging and fuel injection manufacturing, facility management, and service locations. A key priority is the formulation and implementation of clear and practical Group HSE standards and operational procedures that empower management and employees to safely plan and execute identified High-Risk Activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Group-level control standards, policies, and guidelines in alignment with ISO standards.
  • Provide technical and specialist HSE support to all divisions, ensuring effective implementation of the HSE Management System through a robust Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) program tailored to divisional needs.
  • Design safe systems of work to support operations across all locations, deliver training, facilitate local legal compliance, and ensure adherence to the Accelleron Safety Code for controlling High-Risk Activities.
  • Resolve challenges related to the HSE Management System, including HSE reporting and data management, while fostering continuous improvement as a core aspect of daily operations.
  • Assist operational management and supervisors in creating risk-based method statements and assessments for work activities, ensuring effective hazard identification, risk evaluation, and implementation of risk reduction measures.
  • Facilitate appropriate HSE and High-Risk Activity training to ensure legal compliance, local ownership, and alignment with Accelleron Group HSE Standards.
  • Contribute to incident investigations, ensuring comprehensive root cause analysis and the establishment of SMART corrective actions, while training investigators in applicable methodologies.
  • Promote safety leadership and coaching in daily operations, encouraging the cessation of unsafe activities, challenging unsafe behaviors, and acknowledging safe practices to enhance the safety culture.
  • Collaborate with the Group HSE Manager to outline the annual budget for the HSE function while managing performance within financial targets.
  • Support the development of a competent HSE function by facilitating training and development opportunities as needed.

Your Background

  • Higher National Certificate, Technical Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with practical experience in an engineering environment, and/or a diploma in a mechanical or electrical trade (including completion of a technical engineering apprenticeship).
  • Professional HSE qualification equivalent to NEBOSH Diploma or Degree, IOSH Certified Safety Practitioner, or national Health & Safety certification.
  • Experience as a supervisor or mentor, with exposure to engineering works in manufacturing, service, projects, oil & gas, facility management, or marine industries.
  • Certified Internal ISO Auditor (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on technical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or service operations, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Approximately 10 years of comprehensive HSE experience in manufacturing or service environments with a global footprint, demonstrating measurable improvements in safety performance.
  • Proven expertise in implementing High-Risk Activity Minimum Standards and relevant codes of practice.
  • Strong ability to provide practical HSE solutions to operational challenges across various locations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HSE management system documentation and training materials, including policies, procedures, and control standards.
  • Familiarity with Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus).
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
