Job Opportunity: HSE Management System Specialist

This role is vital to our company’s ongoing improvement initiatives, focusing on the development and maintenance of a robust HSE Management System across our global divisions, including turbocharging and fuel injection manufacturing, facility management, and service locations worldwide. A primary goal is to establish and implement clear, practical Group HSE standards and operational procedures that empower management and employees to execute High-Risk Activities safely.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Head of HSE and collaborating closely with the General Manager of the Service Division, you will engage with division and country leadership teams to foster alignment, clarify expectations, enhance accountability for HSE performance, and validate compliance. Your role will involve supporting the creation and practical implementation of Group standards by delivering focused training, developing local expertise, and bolstering operational ownership. Additionally, you will undertake site monitoring and support visits across various regions, conducting validation assessments, audits, and training to ensure adherence to the Group’s HSE Minimum Standards.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Group-level control standards, policies, and guidelines in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Provide technical and specialist HSE support across all divisions to implement the HSE Management System effectively, developing and overseeing a tailored Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) implementation program.
  • Design safe systems of work to support safe operations at all locations, delivering training and ensuring local legal compliance and alignment with the Accelleron Safety Code.
  • Address HSE Management System challenges, including reporting and data management, while fostering continuous improvement as part of daily operations.
  • Assist operational management and supervisors in developing risk-based method statements and risk assessments, ensuring thorough hazard identification and risk reduction measures.
  • Facilitate appropriate HSE and High-Risk Activity training, ensuring legal compliance and local ownership in line with Accelleron Group HSE Standards.
  • Conduct or significantly contribute to incident investigations, identifying root causes and defining SMART corrective actions while training investigators on relevant methodologies.
  • Promote safety leadership and coaching in daily operations, empowering employees to stop unsafe activities and recognize safe behaviors to enhance safety culture.
  • Contribute to defining the annual budget for your area of responsibility and manage performance within financial targets and constraints.
  • Support the development of a skilled HSE function by providing training and development opportunities when required.

Your Background

  • Higher National Certificate, Technical Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), with practical experience in an engineering environment; and/or a diploma in a mechanical or electrical trade, including completion of a technical engineering apprenticeship.
  • Professional HSE qualification equivalent to NEBOSH Diploma or Degree, IOSH Certified Safety Practitioner, or national Health & Safety professional certification.
  • Experience as a supervisor or mentor with exposure to engineering works in manufacturing, service, projects, oil & gas, facility management, or marine industries.
  • Certified Internal ISO Auditor (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on technical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or service operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Approximately 10 years of comprehensive HSE experience in global manufacturing or service environments, demonstrating measurable improvements in safety performance.
  • Proven track record in implementing High-Risk Activity Minimum Standards and relevant codes of practice.
  • Strong capability to deliver practical HSE solutions to operational challenges across multiple locations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HSE management system documentation and training materials, including policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
