Job Opportunity: HSE Management System Leader

This role is essential to the company’s ongoing improvement initiatives, focusing on the development and maintenance of a robust Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System across all global divisions. This includes turbocharging and fuel injection manufacturing, facility management, and service locations worldwide. A primary goal is to create and implement clear, practical Group HSE standards and operational procedures that enable both management and employees to safely plan and execute identified High-Risk Activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Group-level control standards, policies, and guidelines in alignment with ISO standards.
  • Provide technical and specialist HSE support across all divisions to effectively implement the HSE Management System by overseeing a robust Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) implementation program tailored to divisional needs.
  • Ensure safe operations at all locations by designing safe systems of work, delivering training, enabling local legal compliance, and aligning with the Accelleron Safety Code for High-Risk Activities.
  • Timely address challenges related to the HSE Management System, including reporting and data management, while promoting continuous improvement as part of daily operations.
  • Assist operational managers and supervisors in developing risk-based method statements and assessments for work activities, ensuring proper hazard identification and implementation of risk reduction measures.
  • Facilitate the delivery of relevant HSE and High-Risk Activity training to ensure legal compliance, local ownership, and adherence to Accelleron Group HSE Standards.
  • Contribute to incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and development of appropriate SMART corrective actions. Provide training on investigation methodologies.
  • Encourage and promote safety leadership and coaching in daily operations by addressing unsafe activities, challenging unsafe behaviors, and recognizing safe practices to foster a strong safety culture.
  • Collaborate with the Group HSE Manager to define the annual budget for your area of responsibility, managing performance within the established financial targets.
  • Support the development of a competent HSE function by offering training and development opportunities as necessary.

Your Background

  • Higher National Certificate, Technical Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with practical experience in an engineering environment, or a diploma in mechanical or electrical trade with relevant technical apprenticeship experience.
  • Professional HSE qualification, such as NEBOSH Diploma or Degree, IOSH Certified Safety Practitioner, or a recognized Health & Safety certification.
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience in engineering, particularly within manufacturing, service, projects, oil & gas, facility management, or marine industries.
  • Certified Internal ISO Auditor (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on technical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or service operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Approximately 10 years of comprehensive HSE experience in manufacturing or service environments with a global footprint, demonstrating measurable improvements in safety performance.
  • Proven experience in implementing High-Risk Activity Minimum Standards and related codes of practice.
  • Strong capability to deliver practical HSE solutions tailored to operational challenges across multiple locations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HSE management system documentation and training materials, including policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in German is advantageous.
