Job Title: HSE Manager

This role is essential for our company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System across all divisions globally. This includes turbocharging and fuel injection manufacturing, as well as facility management and service locations worldwide. A primary focus will be the development and implementation of clear, practical Group HSE standards and operational procedures that empower management and employees to carry out identified high-risk activities safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Group-level control standards, policies, and guidelines in line with ISO standards.
  • Provide technical and specialist HSE support to all divisions to effectively implement the HSE Management System through a robust Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) implementation program tailored to divisional needs.
  • Design safe systems of work, deliver training, ensure local legal compliance, and align with the Accelleron Safety Code for managing high-risk activities across all locations.
  • Resolve challenges related to the HSE Management System, including reporting and data management, while promoting continuous improvement as a fundamental aspect of daily operations.
  • Assist operational management and supervisors in crafting risk-based method statements and risk assessments, ensuring thorough hazard identification, risk evaluation, and the execution of risk reduction measures.
  • Facilitate the provision of essential HSE and High-Risk Activity training to ensure legal compliance, local ownership, and full alignment with Accelleron Group HSE Standards.
  • Participate significantly in incident investigations, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and the establishment of SMART corrective actions; train investigators on effective investigation methodologies.
  • Promote safety leadership and coaching within daily operations by encouraging the cessation of unsafe activities, challenging unsafe behaviors, and recognizing safe practices to enhance the overall safety culture.
  • Contribute to defining the annual budget for HSE activities in collaboration with the Group HSE Manager, managing performance within established financial targets.
  • Support the development of a competent HSE function by providing necessary training and development opportunities.

Your Background

  • Higher National Certificate, Technical Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with practical engineering experience; or a diploma/technical qualification in a mechanical or electrical trade, including completion of a technical engineering apprenticeship.
  • Professional HSE qualification equivalent to NEBOSH Diploma or Degree, IOSH Certified Safety Practitioner, or national Health & Safety professional certification.
  • Training and experience in supervision or mentorship, particularly in engineering environments within manufacturing, service, projects, oil & gas, facility management, or marine sectors.
  • Certified Internal ISO Auditor (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on technical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or service operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Around 10 years of comprehensive HSE experience within manufacturing or service environments on a global scale, demonstrating measurable enhancements in safety performance.
  • Proven experience in implementing High-Risk Activity Minimum Standards and relevant industry codes of practice.
  • Strong capability to offer practical and pragmatic HSE solutions to operational challenges across various locations.
  • Experience in developing and executing HSE management system documentation and training materials, including policies, procedures, and control standards.
  • Familiarity with Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
