Global Head of Media Relations
The Global Head of Media Relations is pivotal in crafting and executing EFG International’s media strategy, aimed at enhancing the bank’s earned media presence and positioning. This role also involves managing a dynamic network of journalists.
Your responsibilities will include leading financial communication efforts in close collaboration with the CEO, CFO, and Investor Relations team. You will be tasked with drafting and managing key documents such as media releases, Q&As, presentations, and briefing materials.
As part of this strategic position, you will play a crucial role in issues management and crisis communications, including the preparation of playbooks and media statements, along with contributing to various processes and internal reviews.
Main Responsibilities
- Further develop and execute EFG’s earned media strategy to enhance the bank’s presence and external profile in Switzerland and key business regions.
- Maintain, build, and foster relationships with relevant journalists and media outlets; shape EFG’s external perception and strengthen understanding of its positioning as a top 10 Swiss private bank.
- Build and protect EFG’s reputation, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.
- Position EFG’s equity story in earned media and build credibility; collaborate with senior management, including the Chair and CEO, and advise them on media relations topics.
- Manage a professional and high-quality Media Relations office, ensuring timely and compliant responses to all media inquiries.
- Lead or support external communications projects at the corporate level, such as financial communications for earnings reports and strategic media releases.
- Promote EFG’s business and investment expertise in the media by working closely with the Investment & Client Solutions unit to identify suitable content.
- Act as the primary spokesperson and media contact for the bank.
- Lead and execute issues management and crisis communications; develop contingencies and advise internal stakeholders.
- Ensure effective media monitoring and produce daily and weekly media reviews and summaries, improving processes to enhance efficiency on critical communications topics.
- Oversee and lead all global media activities, including coordination with PR agencies, ensuring adherence to all internal guidelines.
- Ensure seamless execution, appropriate control, and timely reporting while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and budgetary constraints.
Main Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism or Communications.
- Five or more years of experience in a similar role within the financial services industry, particularly in Corporate Communications for a publicly listed company.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills in English; proficiency in German; knowledge of Italian or French is an advantage.
- Experience in issues management and crisis communications.
- Strong journalist network and understanding of media operations.
- Ability to conceptualize a media strategy that aligns with the bank’s overall positioning and communication objectives.
- Exceptional project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong focus on developing and delivering solutions.
- A high degree of flexibility and personal commitment.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
