Geography Teacher / Geography Teacheress

Collège Alpin Beau-Soleil SA - September 5, 2025

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Beau Soleil, we believe that actions speak louder than words. This philosophy guides our staff and shapes the experiences of our students. We are a vibrant community that values action, engagement, and participation both inside and outside the classroom.

Our unique holistic education is centered around four core values: Respect, Responsibility, Ambition, and Determination. These values provide a framework for community life among our diverse international student body, representing over fifty different countries and a wide range of academic backgrounds and future aspirations.

With curricular programs offered in both English and French, students graduate with either an IB or an Advanced Studies Diploma. The small class sizes foster a flexible learning environment, enabling staff to innovate and inspire their students.

OUR COMMUNITY

Located in the heart of Villars-sur-Ollon, we offer an enviable lifestyle that includes skiing in the winter and a plethora of outdoor and sporting activities year-round. The nearby cities of Montreux, Lausanne, and Geneva provide cultural adventures and inspiration for our students and staff alike.

The Beau Soleil campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities. Our commitment to ongoing campus development and maintenance ensures that our students and staff thrive in an environment they can be proud of.

YOUR PROFILE

Is there a better place in the world to teach Geography? Here, what most consider a once-a-year field trip becomes your everyday classroom. Glaciers, forests, Alpine meadows, and mountain villages are all part of your daily landscape.

Living and working in the Swiss Alps, you'll bring your passion for Geography to life for students from around the globe. You'll encourage younger pupils to deepen their understanding of climate change and sustainability, and assist Year 13 IB students in refining their Internal Assessment methodology while conducting glacier surveys. Your teaching will connect academic learning with real-world experiences, inspiring curiosity and developing skills that extend beyond the classroom.

This full-time, permanent position beginning in October 2025 offers you the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our vibrant school community, both in the classroom and through our rich co-curricular program.

As a member of our international boarding school, you’ll view education as a holistic journey rather than just a timetable. From morning classes to weekend expeditions, you'll share ideas, challenges, and adventures with students in a community that values meaningful relationships and outdoor exploration as much as academic achievement.

You’ll collaborate within a forward-thinking Humanities department that encourages creativity and curiosity. The role may also include teaching our Integrated Humanities course for Years 7 to 11, and familiarity with IB Environmental Systems and Societies would be a plus.

You are a qualified teacher, fluent in English and experienced with the IBDP. Your background includes working with students from diverse backgrounds. You are an excellent communicator, confident with digital tools, and committed to building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families alike. Well-organized, enthusiastic, and adaptable, you possess a good sense of humor and are ready to fully immerse yourself in school life. Whether leading a parent-teacher meeting, climbing a 4,000m peak, or cheering on students at a night-time ski race, you view every moment as a part of the learning journey.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as coach and mentor to individual tutees.
  • Contribute to whole school learning initiatives.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of the IBDP curriculum.
  • Relevant degree in Humanities.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Native English speaker; proficiency in French is an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
  • Experience working in a highly successful department and school.
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage students and enhance their performance.
  • Experience delivering a UK National Curriculum and/or the IB Diploma.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Warmth and kindness, with flexibility and empathy.
  • A passion for education and learning.
  • An understanding of the complex and demanding environment of an international boarding school community.
