The experience of living and learning alongside peers from diverse cultural backgrounds positions our students as true global citizens. While each student is an individual, together we form a remarkably special community.

OUR LOCATION

Our stunning alpine location in the heart of Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, offers a lifestyle that is nothing short of enviable. With skiing at our doorstep during the winter months and a host of outdoor and sporting activities throughout the year, our students enjoy an active lifestyle. Cultural adventures in nearby Montreux, Lausanne, and Geneva provide additional inspiration, while trips across Europe and beyond are integral to our community. The Beau Soleil campus is not only an inspiring place to study but also has facilities that are second to none, fostering an environment in which students and staff thrive, while inspiring us to continually strive for excellence.

YOUR PROFILE

Is there a better place in the world to teach Geography? Here, what many consider a once-a-year field trip becomes your everyday classroom—glaciers, forests, alpine meadows, and picturesque mountain villages are all part of your daily landscape.

By living and working in the heart of the Swiss Alps, you’ll have the opportunity to ignite your passion for Geography in students from around the globe. You’ll encourage younger pupils to think deeply about climate change and sustainability, while guiding Year 13 IB students as they refine their Internal Assessment methodology through glacier surveys. Your teaching will seamlessly connect academic learning with real-world experiences, inspiring curiosity and developing skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

This maternity cover role, from October 2025 to June 2026, offers a unique opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our vibrant school during a pivotal part of the academic year. As a member of our international boarding school, you will experience education as a way of life, sharing ideas, challenges, and adventures with pupils in a community that values holistic learning, meaningful relationships, and outdoor exploration just as much as academic success.

You'll work within a forward-thinking and collaborative Humanities department where creativity and curiosity are cultivated. The role may also require teaching our Integrated Humanities course for Years 7 to 11, and prior experience in IB Environmental Systems and Societies would be an asset.

You are a qualified teacher, fluent in English and well-versed in the IBDP, with experience working with pupils from diverse backgrounds. Excellent communication skills, confidence with digital tools, and a commitment to building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families are essential.

Well-organized, enthusiastic, and adaptable, you possess a good sense of humor and are ready to engage fully in school life. Whether you’re leading a parent-teacher meeting, climbing a 4,000m peak, or cheering on students during a night-time ski race, you view every moment as part of the learning journey and are prepared to make it count.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a strong profile for the subject within and beyond the Humanities Faculty by collaborating with a commitment to continuous improvement and enhancing the quality of students’ learning.
  • Develop and deploy resources that support high-quality student learning by planning effective teaching programs that provide exemplary learning opportunities within and beyond the classroom.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessment effectively to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students, incorporating homework and other extracurricular learning avenues.
  • Support the academic progress of a small group of students within one of our boarding houses.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to individual tutees.
  • Contribute to whole school learning initiatives.
