Job Responsibilities
Functional Safety Engineers play a crucial role in supporting Functional Safety Managers and project teams to ensure that all products and systems supplied by Everllence Zurich meet defined Functional Safety standards. Responsibilities include completing assigned tasks by Functional Safety Managers and developing project-specific documentation in line with Everllence's internal Functional Safety approach.
The main tasks of a Functional Safety Engineer include:
- Initial creation, development, and revision of relevant Functional Safety documentation per project requirements.
- Development of project SIS Reliability Calculations using appropriate data sources for selected equipment.
- Creation of SIS Configuration Lists.
- Development of procedures for FAT and SAT Validation activities.
- Assistance in the creation of Safety Requirement Specifications.
- Initial Functional Safety Assessment review.
- Provide guidance to project teams regarding Functional Safety and best engineering practices in practical applications.
Qualifications
- Functional Safety certification from a recognized accreditation body, ideally to IEC 61511 or IEC 61508.
- A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree from a recognized university in a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in the practical application of Functional Safety requirements in a high-hazard process industry or in an organization supplying equipment to such industries, ideally across the full Functional Safety lifecycle.
- Good communication skills and confidence to convey technical support and Functional Safety concepts to a diverse range of project stakeholders.
- Knowledge and experience with Safety Instrumented Systems, such as Siemens PCS7 or similar platforms.
- Experience in general automation and control technology, including input, logic solver, and final element devices.
