As a Fuel Manager, you will oversee fuel regulations, homologation, and supplier relationships, ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence across the world’s premier racing championships.
Operating within the R&D department, you'll thrive in a collaborative and high-stakes environment, coordinating with fuel experts, laboratories, and global suppliers to drive the FIA’s fuel strategy and sustainability roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
Fuel Coordination & Analysis
- Coordinate all FIA fuel-related activities to ensure consistency across the championship portfolio.
- Manage relationships with FIA-approved laboratories, overseeing testing, conformity checks, and reporting standards.
- Lead the Fuel Sampling Database project, ensuring robust data collection, traceability, and documentation in collaboration with the IT department.
- Maintain the FIA Technical Laboratory List and support National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) with fuel homologation processes.
Sustainable Fuels & Innovation
- Manage all FIA sustainable fuel activities, including delivering sustainability certifications and verifications with external entities.
- Contribute to the long-term fuel sustainability roadmap and ensure compliance with FIA carbon accounting and reporting requirements.
- Support activities related to hydrogen and alternative fuel supply, focusing on technical analysis, fuel specifications, and regulatory alignment.
Regulatory Support & Supplier Management
- Prepare technical documentation and inputs for Technical Working Groups (TWG) and FIA Commissions.
- Drive updates to technical regulations, particularly Appendix J (Article 266), to ensure regulatory consistency.
- Manage technical partnerships and lead the tender process for fuel suppliers across various FIA championships.
Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in fuel technology within a global fuel provider or a motorsports engine manufacturer.
- A proven background in motorsport, automotive, or the fuel supply industry is highly advantageous.
- A deep understanding of fuel composition, laboratory processes, sustainable fuels, and carbon accounting principles.
- Familiarity with technical compliance frameworks and experience working within regulatory environments.
- Exceptional ability to coordinate multiple international stakeholders, including laboratories, suppliers, and ASNs.
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
