Daedalean AG - April 28, 2025

About Us

Daedalean is a Zürich-based startup founded by seasoned engineers with a bold vision to revolutionize air travel within the next decade. We harness the power of computer vision, deep learning, and robotics to develop full “level-5” autonomy for flying vehicles.

Your Role

You will be responsible for designing algorithms and writing code to automate aircraft operations—sometimes replacing human pilots and other times augmenting their abilities. Your primary focus will be on developing safety-critical algorithms and software for visual guidance, navigation, and control of aircraft, leveraging machine learning for practical applications.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who are intelligent, proactive, and capable of delivering results. Ideally, you should possess:

  • At least 5 years of intensive C++ software engineering experience
  • A passion for creating elegant algorithms
  • Demonstrated research skills
  • Proven applied engineering skills

Relevant Experience

While not mandatory, the following experience will be considered a significant advantage:

  • Robotics and control, such as motion planning in the air or on the ground, sensor fusion, or real-time solutions for inverse kinematics
  • Games or graphics programming, especially high-performance rendering
  • General or commercial aviation, with a solid understanding of pilot duties and the ability to translate those skills into software under safety-critical standards
  • Drone technology, including building Ardupilot/PX4 companion computers, setting up autopilots for custom-built drones, or holding an A1/A3 license

Experience in aerospace engineering or avionics is not required; we are committed to teaching you everything you need to understand the constraints of safety-critical systems in airworthy applications.

Benefits

  • A team of experienced engineers and researchers who have joined us from the most recognized companies and institutions
  • Challenging and engaging problems to solve
  • Subsidy for obtaining a pilot license
  • Flexible hybrid work setting
  • Learning & Development budget for attending conferences of your choice
  • Gym membership
