Job Opportunity: Head of Finance Department of School and Sports

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced individual to take on the role of:

• Head of Finance Department of School and Sports (90 - 100% Executive Board Member)

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial management of the department and lead a team of six professionals in accounting and controlling.
• Manage the budget, investment planning, forecasts, annual financial statements, and financial and operational planning.
• Establish meaningful decision-making bases and identify financial levers.
• Advise departmental and area leaders, as well as political bodies, on financial matters.
• Contribute a financial perspective to overarching issues as a member of the executive board.
• Develop processes and management tools, and engage in topics such as digitalization, IT, and risk management.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A business administration degree at the FH level or a comparable qualification with a focus on finance/controlling.
• Several years of experience in a comparable leadership role.
• Strong entrepreneurial thinking, analytical skills, and solution-oriented leadership.
• Ability to maintain an overview, make informed decisions, and incorporate diverse perspectives.
• Experience in supporting and guiding teams, developing potential, and fostering a trusting work environment.
• Excellent communication, advisory, and social skills, along with a good understanding of political contexts.
• A high affinity for IT; knowledge of Abacus is an advantage.
