Job Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to oversee all aspects of financial controlling, reporting, and analysis for the site Profit & Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of business operations and the challenges it faces, coupled with active participation as a member of the site management team. Timely and accurate reporting, analysis, and forecasting will be provided for both local and Business Unit management.
Principal Accountabilities
- Manage plant controlling and accounting department (3 staff) with a total plant staff of 140.
Accounting & Reporting
- Responsible for monthly reporting based on a complete set of accounts provided by the Accounting Department, ensuring financial statements are accurate, complete, and reliable.
- Conduct monthly financial closes in accordance with US GAAP standards and yearly closings of statutory accounts as per “Obligationenrecht” (OR).
- Collaborate to set proper local processes and procedures, ensuring the timely availability of required information achieved right the first time.
- Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes in collaboration with the Shared Service Center.
- Lead the budget review, including preparation, consolidation, checking, and presentation.
- Prepare monthly Hedge Accounting reports, including Balance Sheet and P&L forecasts.
Governance, Internal Controls & Compliance
- Promote and enforce effective governance and internal controls across the plant, utilizing an end-to-end process approach.
- Ensure financial accounts comply with Amcor’s CSA (internal control) and SOX requirements.
- Act as the primary contact for external and internal auditors, tax authorities, consultants, and insurance providers.
Management Information and Analysis
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to track and manage plant performance effectively while identifying risks.
- Ensure alignment and consistency of forecasts with the business goals and direction.
- Contribute to the Leadership Team by offering insights and guidance on achieving Sales, EBIT, Cash, Working Capital (WC), DIFOT, and Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) targets.
- Co-lead the realization of CAPEX projects for the plant, liaising with multiple departments (technical, business, maintenance, engineering, etc.).
- Provide ad hoc information to support Plant and Operations management in identifying and realizing improvement opportunities.
Business Partnership
- Provide financial support to the commercial team regarding pricing, contract reviews, and margin improvements.
- Analyze quarterly PMDB (customer margin database) to understand trends and implement actions to mitigate any negative margin trends.
- Lead plant initiatives to maximize cash flow and returns on capital, aiding in the preparation of the operational strategy.
- Offer financial leadership and modeling for the strategic planning process.
- Forecast business activities and financial positions concerning P&L and cash.
- Participate in Capital Expenditure business case preparations and follow up on capital expenditure requests.
- Collaborate with the Credit & Collection team to ensure efficient customer risk management.
- Work closely with the Site HR Manager to assume joint responsibility for local payrolls, ensuring adequate controls are established in this area.
Qualifications/Requirements
Formal Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
- Knowledge of Swiss Finance Legislation is desirable.
Specific Skills and Abilities
- Experience in a SAP environment.
- Familiarity with the manufacturing industry is advantageous.
- Experience within a fast-paced, international matrix organization.
- Demonstrated business and commercial acumen.
- Strong analytical and IT skills; proficiency in spreadsheet packages is essential.
- Good people management skills with an emphasis on motivation and development.
- Result-oriented and action-minded approach.
Language Skills
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral).
- Advanced proficiency in German is required.
