Job Description

Based in Geneva, as part of a global team, your role as Finance Controller will encompass the following responsibilities for a specified scope of companies, including those in the Netherlands:

  • Assist the Finance Group Co-Controller in reviewing and monitoring essential financial movements to ensure accurate and complete information is reflected in the Group's financial statements.
  • Oversee the preparation of precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Analyze financial data and provide key insights to senior management.
  • Stay updated on technical accounting principles to ensure all reporting requirements are met and effectively implemented, including the introduction of new policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Conduct analytical reviews of the balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Manage the entire audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with all local tax laws, statutory requirements, CBS reporting, and internal controls.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce robust internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and efficiency throughout the region.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and improvement of processes and procedures to ensure the provision of timely and accurate financial information.
  • Liaise with team members in Geneva, Rotterdam, Poland, Romania, and internationally as needed, with regular travel expected to our Rotterdam office and other locations.
  • Assist in completing ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested by senior management.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Group Co-Controller.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting, control, and finance; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Chartered Accountant or equivalent) is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, controlling, or consolidation functions, ideally within a Big 5 consulting firm and/or a commodity trading company.
  • Strong analytical and Excel modeling skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS, Dutch GAAP, Dutch tax laws, and the consolidation process.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • A high level of ownership, results-oriented mindset, proactive approach, flexibility, and commitment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Full proficiency in English and Dutch, enabling effective communication in a business context (both verbally and in writing).
