Job Description
Based in Geneva and as part of a global team, your role as Finance Controller will encompass the following responsibilities for a specified scope of companies, including those in the Netherlands:
- Assist the Finance Group Co-Controller in reviewing and monitoring key financial movements to ensure accurate and complete information is included in the Group financial statements.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Analyze financial data and provide valuable insights to senior management.
- Stay updated on technical accounting principles to ensure that all reporting requirements are met; implement new policies and procedures as required.
- Conduct analytical reviews of balance sheets and P&L accounts.
- Manage the entire audit process, including collaboration with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all local tax laws, statutory requirements, CBS reporting, and internal controls.
- Develop, implement, and enforce robust internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and efficiency across the region.
- Assist in the continuous development and enhancement of processes and procedures to provide timely and accurate financial information.
- Collaborate with team members in Geneva, Rotterdam, Poland, Romania, and other international locations as needed, with regular travel to our Rotterdam office expected.
- Assist in completing ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests from senior management.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Group Co-Controller.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Control, and Finance; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Chartered Accountant or equivalent) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, auditing, controlling, or consolidation functions, ideally within a Big 5, consulting firm, or commodity trading company.
- Strong analytical and Excel modeling skills with excellent attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS, Dutch GAAP, Dutch tax laws, and the consolidation process.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional organizational abilities, and capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- High level of ownership, results-driven, proactive, flexible, and committed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Dutch, with strong business communication skills both verbally and in writing.
