Job Title: Fair Marketing & Activation Manager Europe
We are seeking a dynamic Fair Marketing & Activation Manager Europe to support and drive the execution of marketing and activation for Art Basel’s core fairs in Basel and Paris. Reporting to the Senior Fair Marketing & Activation Manager Europe, this role blends hands-on delivery with tactical development, contributing innovative ideas, improvements, and tactical recommendations within established global and regional frameworks.
This position is pivotal in delivering seamless, high-quality fair moments by ensuring that marketing plans, campaigns, and activations are executed to the highest standards—on time, on brand, and within budget. Additionally, you will actively identify new trends, tools, and more efficient methods to continually enhance impact and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Fair Marketing & Brand Activation
- Support the execution of integrated fair marketing and activation campaigns for Art Basel in Basel and Art Basel Paris, aligning with global strategy and regional priorities.
- Coordinate the development, rollout, and quality control of marketing assets across channels to ensure brand consistency and accuracy.
- Assist in delivering fair-specific activations, partnerships, and on-site experiences in collaboration with internal teams and agencies.
- Identify, test, and propose new formats, tools, and approaches for fair marketing and activation while staying abreast of emerging trends, audience behaviors, and best practices to improve efficiency, impact, and execution quality.
Go-to-Market Execution
- Execute agreed go-to-market plans and timelines for Basel and Paris, supporting and coordinating campaign launches and peak fair moments.
- Coordinate ticketing-related marketing initiatives and lead improvements in collaboration with the Senior Manager and commercial teams.
- Support the delivery of ticket sales revenue targets for Basel and Paris by executing performance-driven marketing initiatives and optimizing campaigns to enhance conversion and audience acquisition.
- Project manage campaign milestones, deliverables, and deadlines while proactively identifying and resolving any risks or delays.
- Manage allocated marketing and activation budgets with disciplined tracking, variance monitoring, and timely reforecasting. Provide accurate financial updates to support regional decision-making.
Audience-Led Activation
- Support the execution of regional always-on marketing and activation activities, ensuring continuity between peak fair moments and sustained year-round engagement.
- Implement audience-led initiatives by supporting testing, optimization, and reporting on campaign performance.
- Ensure all executions are informed by audience insights, cultural context, and performance data.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for show management, brand, communications, ticketing, VIP, digital, commercial, and operations teams.
- Coordinate inputs, feedback loops, and approvals to ensure smooth execution across stakeholders.
- Play an active role in on-site delivery during fair build-up, live days, and post-fair wrap-up, ensuring smooth execution and rapid issue resolution.
Agency & Partner Coordination
- Brief, coordinate, and oversee external agencies and freelancers supporting fair marketing and activation.
- Ensure deliverables meet agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Experience & Profile
- 4–7+ years of experience in marketing, brand activation, event marketing, or integrated campaign execution, ideally within cultural, luxury, media, consumer, or experience-led organizations.
- Hands-on experience supporting the delivery of large-scale events, fairs, or live experiences.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to independently lead complex workstreams, coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage timelines and deliverables, and maintain high quality and accuracy in fast-paced environments.
- Solid understanding of digital, social, content, and experiential marketing execution.
- Experience working with agencies, freelancers, and cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and brand consistency.
- Fluent in English and German; French is a strong plus.
- Right to work in Switzerland or the EU.
- Willingness to travel as required around fair moments.
