Role Purpose:

This position is within the Global Technical R&D department of Novartis Global Drug Development. The Chemical & Analytical Development (CHAD) team plays a vital role in the development of processes for manufacturing and analyzing complex small molecule drug substances from the moment they leave the discovery laboratory until their handover to Commercial Production. In this role, you will contribute significantly to the development of chemical synthetic processes for the manufacture of our future drug substances, focusing on bio-conjugation products, with a core emphasis on Antibody-Oligonucleotide constructs.
About the Role
Major Accountabilities:
- Utilizing your strong expertise in laboratory operations, you will help define future manufacturing processes and strategies for bioconjugation projects, including Antibody-Oligonucleotides.
- In our laboratories, you will generate essential synthetic and partly analytical data to evaluate and define manufacturing processes for bioconjugations, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and environmental compatibility.
- As a member of the drug substance team, you will closely collaborate with both internal and external partners to ensure the timely and quality delivery of new oligonucleotide drugs to our patients.
- You will be responsible for providing relevant documentation of experiments and related information in support of filings and patents.
- You will actively maintain and optimize our lab infrastructure, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of chemical experiments.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- A minimum of a relevant apprenticeship (e.g. Laborant Chemie/ Analytik EFZ or equivalent) is required. The position is also open to applicants with completed BSc. or MSc.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in synthesis and chemical process development is a strong requirement.
- Proven knowledge in the area of bioconjugation or chemical modification of fermentation products, such as Antibody-Drug Conjugations or other complex molecular structures, is desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of software and computer tools, including the Office suite and chromatography data-evaluation software (e.g. Chromeleon), is a plus.
- Experience with SEC chromatography or other relevant analytical techniques is beneficial.
- An independent and self-motivated workstyle paired with effective communication skills is essential.
- Strong documentation skills are required for the accurate execution of experiments and recording of results.
Languages:
- Proficient knowledge of the English language (oral and written) is required; German and other language skills are advantageous.
