The Biologics Research Center (BRC) is seeking a talented bioinformatician, data scientist, or computational biologist to join our dynamic Bioinformatics and Biotherapeutics modeling team. This team collaborates closely with experimental scientists to analyze various omics datasets, define and develop data analysis pipelines and tools to support our biologics programs, and advance technology platforms in the cell and gene therapy and xRNA space.
About the Role
As a successful candidate, one of your primary responsibilities will be to provide computational, bioinformatic, and statistical support for research and early development biologics and technology projects. You will thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, translating project needs into effective bioinformatics solutions. You will identify computational requirements and influence the introduction and design of innovative analysis techniques and tools to optimize bioinformatics applications within the biologics focus area.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Provide bioinformatics support to biologics and technology projects by consistently collecting, analyzing, and integrating omics and screening data to draw relevant and innovative conclusions.
Independently design, plan, execute, and document complex omics data analyses, then interpret, summarize, and report findings to aid in decision-making and priority setting.
Stay abreast of the latest advances in the field, raise awareness, and facilitate the adoption of novel, state-of-the-art computational techniques.
Collaborate in a matrix environment, working with scientists and teams across various disciplines to address project-specific needs while quickly adapting to new technologies and evolving demands.
Develop user-friendly applications to enhance the accessibility of genomic data for bench scientists, promoting broader and repeated use.
Effectively communicate data and analyses to a wide scientific audience, including technical and non-technical team members and colleagues.
Independently identify and lead the development of innovative bioinformatics solutions in a matrix environment to address scientific questions that impact the next generation of xRNA therapeutics biology and platform.
Role Requirements:
Essential Requirements:
Higher-level degree (e.g., Masters/MSc) or recent PhD graduate (graduation within last 3-6 months) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Cheminformatics, or a related field. Alternatively, an MS degree with 4 years of relevant industry experience is acceptable, along with a deep understanding of drug discovery and development processes, including collaboration with experimental scientists in developing predictive models and data analysis pipelines.
Demonstrated experience with next-generation sequencing data (Illumina short reads and/or PacBio/Oxford Nanopore long reads), familiarity with commonly used analysis tools, and the capability to develop new pipelines and workflows based on business needs.
Strong domain knowledge in computational genomics and gene regulation.
Research experience in RNA Biology. Familiarity with oligonucleotide-based therapies and/or gene therapy is preferred.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, as well as experience in high-performance computing environments, including software development practices like version control, testing, and documentation.
Strong communication skills (both oral and written), ability to handle multiple tasks, and competency in conveying results to collaborators with varied expertise.
Experience in integrating, analyzing, and visualizing data from diverse omics sources, high-throughput screening, along with the ability to troubleshoot critical issues, identify causes, and propose potential solutions.
A commitment to staying current on developments within the field of sequencing and genomics, with an initiative to propose improvements and innovations in existing workflows.
Desired Requirements:
Experience in the development and application of machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling.
