Summary
The Executive Director Pricing & Contracting (EDPC) will oversee the CRM portfolio and serve as a partner and subject matter expert, acting as a reliable and visible contact point for priority countries. The EDPC is expected to drive strategic initiatives that position International Pricing as a key collaborator by partnering with relevant functions such as TA, S&G, Access, HEOR, Policy, Finance, and more.
The EDPC will provide advisory support to other functions and senior management teams on pricing-related topics. This role includes leading a team of pricing and contracting professionals, acting as a role model to strengthen organizational culture, and mentoring talent within and outside the pricing sphere. The EDPC will be instrumental in developing launch and in-market pricing strategies and contracting solutions for selected brands, enabling product access in collaboration with TA teams and regional/key country partners.
This position reports to the Head of Pricing.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a Pricing & Contracting team with an innovative mindset to navigate competitive environments and develop effective pricing strategies and tactics that support regions and countries in achieving expected results. Provide inspiring team leadership and focus on career development to retain and attract top talent.
- Work effectively across various functions and geographies, prioritizing customer needs to achieve goals and ensure key stakeholder alignment.
- Serve as a trusted thought partner and subject matter expert, providing active support to priority countries at the country level.
- Engage regularly with priority countries, facilitating operational pricing scenario analysis and innovative contract proposals for consultation and decision-making while sharing overall pricing strategies with the US organization.
- Educate senior leadership on developments within the pricing and reimbursement landscape of priority countries. In collaboration with Policy and Healthcare Systems leads, identify pricing policy barriers and opportunities, and develop strategic plans to address key policy issues.
- Provide endorsement of price proposals consistent with international governance during launch and for any list and net price changes post-launch in assigned countries. Monitor local pricing implementation and oversee relevant vendor and consulting projects focused on strategic pricing and business questions.
Collaboration with Teams:
The Executive Director Pricing & Contracting will partner with TA, HEOR, Access, Finance, and other teams to:
- Develop, review, and execute pricing and innovative contracting strategies for key compounds and indications, ensuring alignment with program and brand strategies to optimize brand value and market access.
- Collaborate on pricing research with international functions and key countries as needed, identifying competitive trends and synthesizing price information to drive necessary actions.
- Design and oversee the optimization of the international launch sequence for assigned assets and indications, collaborating with key countries and regions to ensure pricing and access are globally optimized.
- Develop and co-create models for optimizing pricing and access, recommending necessary adaptations and providing insights for early-stage product price assessments and due diligence projects.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant senior-level experience in pharmaceutical companies, HTA, or healthcare consultancy, with expertise in pricing, access, and commercial activities across multiple brands and therapeutic areas.
- Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify key information, summarize needs, and provide targeted insights and recommendations.
- Previous experience in team management.
- Strategic thinker with strong business and finance acumen.
- Recent experience in an above-country (regional or global) role is preferred.
- Experience or strong exposure to key markets (US, EU5, China, Japan), as well as emerging key markets in LaCan and APMA.
- Proven ability to work effectively across functions, especially in collaboration with TA, S&G, V&A, and Finance.
- Experience in preparing and negotiating reimbursement and HTA submissions with payers in major markets.
Desirable Requirements:
- 10+ years of relevant senior-level experience.
- Advanced degree (e.g., PhD, Masters) in Math, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Health Policy, Health Economics, or related fields.
