The European Respiratory Society (ERS) is seeking a new Executive Director (ED) to succeed the outgoing ED, who has served the Society for over 20 years. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead one of the foremost organizations in the field of respiratory medicine.
ERS is a non-profit international membership organization that unites physicians, healthcare professionals, scientists, and other experts dedicated to advancing respiratory health. With a membership exceeding 34,000 individuals from over 160 countries, ERS stands at the forefront of respiratory medicine, emphasizing science, education, and advocacy to enhance global respiratory health, alleviate suffering from diseases, and elevate standards in the field.
The Executive Director holds a pivotal role within ERS, situated in a complex environment with various internal and external stakeholders. We are searching for a seasoned leader with the capability to uphold high standards. The ED will collaborate closely with the ERS Core Management Group and broader leadership team, ensuring effective implementation of the organization’s strategy while providing operational oversight and leading the ERS Office team, which comprises approximately 100 employees distributed across three countries.
This position is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, with travel expected across Europe and internationally. The salary for this role will be commensurate with the level of responsibility associated with the position.
