Summary

In close collaboration with the BD&L Partnering Therapeutic Area Head, you will be responsible for negotiating and securing BD&L deals within a specific therapeutic area (e.g., Immunology) across all stages of development, from research to commercial implementation. As the deal architect and lead negotiator, you will engage in deal structuring, term sheet preparation, and contract negotiations, all aimed at strategically aligning with our growth initiatives.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional partnering and project management throughout the entire deal-making process to secure and implement attractive deals.
  • Develop tailored partnering structures for each collaboration envisioned.
  • Propose deal terms and negotiation strategies to BD&L Partnering Heads.
  • Collaborate with various functions to develop robust business cases and derive clear recommendations.
  • Promptly identify and resolve issues while gathering and analyzing information effectively, escalating to senior management when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Therapeutic Area Leadership team (Research, Development, Commercial, Strategy Heads) to understand key partnering priorities, drive alignment, and proactively communicate project updates.
  • Facilitate the decision-making process at key governance deal committees by preparing comprehensive presentations and memos.
  • Proactively monitor the external business environment and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of licensing transactions and industry partnering activities.
  • Build and continuously strengthen a broad industry network to facilitate deal-making.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant degree; a Ph.D. or advanced degree in biological sciences is desirable, alongside an MBA or similar advanced qualification.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is required, especially in negotiation contexts.
  • Demonstrated industry experience with significant exposure to Business Development or Investment Banking.
  • A proven track record in sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and closing various types of partnerships.
  • A broad network within the industry.
  • A demonstrated history of leading international, global, and cross-functional teams and strategic corporate initiatives.
