Summary

In close coordination with the respective BD&L Partnering Therapeutic Area Head, you will negotiate and secure BD&L deals within a specific therapeutic area (e.g., Immunology), covering all stages of development from research to commercial stages and various geographies. As the deal architect and lead negotiator, you will oversee deal structuring, term sheets, and contract negotiations for partnering opportunities that align strategically with growth initiatives.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding partnering and project management throughout the entire deal-making process to secure and implement attractive deals.
  • Develop partnering structures tailored to the specific profile of each envisioned collaboration.
  • Propose deal terms and negotiation strategies to BD&L Partnering Head(s).
  • Drive contributions from various functions to develop robust and comprehensive business cases and recommend clear actions.
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly, while efficiently gathering and analyzing information; escalate to senior management when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with the Therapeutic Area Leadership team (Research, Development, Commercial, Strategy Heads) to understand key partnering priorities, drive alignment, and proactively communicate project updates.
  • Facilitate the decision-making process at key governance deal committees by preparing comprehensive presentations and memos.
  • Proactively monitor the external business environment, maintaining a knowledge base of licensing transactions and partnering activities of other companies.
  • Build and continually strengthen a broad industry network to facilitate deal-making.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant degree, preferably a Ph.D. or an advanced degree in biological sciences, along with an MBA or similar advanced qualification.
  • Proficiency in English, including strong verbal, written, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated industry experience with significant expertise in Business Development or Investment Banking.
  • A proven track record in sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and closing various types of partnerships.
  • A broad network within the industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading international, cross-functional teams and strategic corporate initiatives.
