Job Overview
As an IP Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy. Your responsibilities will encompass invention mining, assisting with patent drafting, conducting prior art searches, and managing our IP portfolio. You will collaborate closely with R&D teams, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure that our innovations are effectively protected and aligned with business objectives.
This position reports to the General Counsel and is based in Baden, Switzerland.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
- Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Assist in both internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
- Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on portfolio status.
- Monitor competitor patents and industry IP trends.
- Support IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement activities as needed.
- Provide training to engineers on IP awareness and best practices.
Supporting R&D Teams in the U.S. and China
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with patent systems in major jurisdictions (e.g., US, EP, CN).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with patent search tools.
- Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is a plus.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
