Job Overview
As an IP Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy. Your responsibilities will encompass invention mining, assistance with patent drafting, conducting prior art searches, and managing our IP portfolio. Collaboration will be key as you work closely with R&D teams, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure our innovations are effectively safeguarded and aligned with our business objectives.
This position reports to the General Counsel and will be based in Baden, Switzerland.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
- Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis.
- Assist with internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
- Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on portfolio status.
- Monitor competitor patents and industry IP trends.
- Support IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement activities as needed.
- Provide training to engineers on IP awareness and best practices.
Additionally, you will provide support to the R&D team in the U.S. and China.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with patent systems in major jurisdictions (e.g., US, EP, CN).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with patent search tools.
- Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is a plus.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
